“Wonderful place and wonderful experience”

25 April 2014

We are three families from China and spent three desirable nights in Nikita's Homestead.
Very few local people speaking English bring us difficulty to travel in Irkutsk city and Olkhon island by ourselves, but the managers in Nikita will solve all problems you have.
They provide three meals per day which was included in the room fees, so you do not have to seek restaurants everyday. Most dishes are tasty.
Diversified excursions was also offered with reasonable prices. During our stay, the manager guide us in the south part excursion by himself. There are some water activities in summer.
All rooms are wooden made and very cozy. The only thing you should notice is that whether the room is warm enough.
The owner and manager in Nikita are all very friendly and warmhearted. My wife caught a cough that time. The manager bought lemons and medicines for us, and give us advice.
Nikita's Homestead locates a best place on Olkhon island. I am a photographer, it was very convenient for me to take only three minutes to get to Burkhan Cape, which is the best place to take photo on the island.
Besides, you can meet many people here from different countries, sharing different travelling experiences.
In summary, I have no pity here, except the disappointing whether. Maybe this is the only thing that Nikita's Homestead can not guarantee.
I will recommend this hotel to my friends, and I will be back in the future.

“An Institution!”

30 March 2014

We were travelling from UK to Hong Kong by train and our stay on Olkhon Island was a highlight, partly because of the great atmosphere in Nikitas. We are in our 60s so booked a room with private bath room and tho on the basic side was fine . Certainly cosy with plenty of hot water and space. The best thing was the chat and laughter at meals. We met 17 different nationalities and hearing their stories was great. Although you can pay extra for better food, we didn't as you eat in a separate much more staid room. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and Nikita arranges evening entertainment ( as tho the evening meal was not entertainment enough!)as well as day trips.
The best thing for us tho was the Banya on the long beach to the north of Nikitas, cooling dips in the Lake when overheated by the Banya.
It was either that or the atmosphere at Nikitas but we left Olkhon greatly rejuvenated!
